electronic Measurement of Itch
eITCH
ITCH assessment made easy and quick
What is the eITCH?
eITCH is designed to give a patient-defined measure of itch on a numerical scale. The itch scale has a range between 0-10, meaning 11 possibilities. Measurement of itch intensity is essential to properly evaluate severity, assess patient needs and address them effectively.

How to use the eITCH
eITCH gives a visual analogue scale to rate a patient-perception of itch. By moving the slider, patients can choose the level of itch they are feeling. Each point on a scale consists of a number, an image, and a description to facilitate itch measurement.
The eITCH Score
The measurement of itch has proven to be valid despite its subjective perception. The NRS itch scale represents the simplest method for assessing itch and subsequently its influence through therapy. To deepen the recording of goals in itch treatment, the PBI-P for pruritus can be considered.
The following versions of the eITCH are available
The impact of itch on healing
Poorly managed patient itch has adverse physiological and psychological implications. Inadequately managed itch affects the psychological state of the patient and family members, with patients reporting increased feelings of anxiety, depression, anger and sleeplessness. Effective itch management continues to evolve but is largely reliant upon an accurate assessment of patient needs. Studies also show an increase in patient satisfaction when patients are actively involved in their treatment.
Benefits of timely and appropriate itch management include improved quality of life, decreased length of hospital stays, lower readmission rates and better overall patient outcomes.
Features

PATIENT-ORIENTED
eITCH offers health care providers a measure of patient-perceived itch.

USER-FRIENDLY
The itch-scale is self-explanatory and easy to use.

ITCH TRACKING
eITCH allows patients to track their itch and be more aware of possible triggers or factors that relief as they can reflect on their itch score. This information can be useful not only for the patient but also for a doctor to have a better insight in order to create a more successful itch management strategy.

MULTI-DIMENSIONAL
The itch scale consists of numbers, images and descriptions to be easily understood regardless of the age or communication preferences.
